What is Walking Distance
Purdue and West Lafayette suffer from a lack of homes that are truly walking distance from campus. MOST of the homes that are walkable are to the northeast side of campus.

Considerations
In addition to distance, also consider the weather. When there is snow on the ground, how well are the sidewalks cleared. Will you get slush thrown onto you from passing cars?
Being able to walk to campus is a nice feature but is probably not the only method you should plan on using.

Hills & Dales Homes For Sale
Truly close to campus. Ross-Football Stadium is to the west just across Northwestern Avenue.
Beautiful neighborhood with many older homes. Property values tend to reflect both distance and quality.
New Chauncey Homes For Sale
Southern end has many student rentals. Northern part of the neighborhood is higher in percentage of owner occupants. This is a truly walkable to Purdue neighborhood.
Oakhurst Homes For Sale
Truly close to campus. Ross-Football Stadium is to the south.
Beautiful neighborhood with many older homes. Property values tend to reflect both distance and quality.
Wabash Shores Homes For Sale
Starting to stretch the idea of walkable with Wabash Shores. You have to be a dedicated walker. It is also much more difficult in the winter. Avid biker? More doable.
Happy Hollow Homes For Sale
Happy Hollow is a beautiful area consisting of a major ravine with many intersecting ravines. Nature in town. If you like hiking, and by hiking I mean walking up and down trails with wooden steps and bridges, you have found home. Calling this walkable for work purposes is a stretch but it is a beautiful nature filled neighborhood connected to the rest of West Lafayette.
