A Wave of New Development

The Greater Lafayette area is set to see a major boost in hospitality options, with six new hotels either planned or nearing construction. Four of these projects are scheduled to break ground within the next year, each adding valuable rooms and modern lodging options to meet growing demand across the region.

East Side Expansion

On the east side, progress continues near the DoubleTree on Progress Drive, where Hilton will introduce a new Tru by Hilton property. This six‑story hotel will add 83 rooms, complementing existing accommodations near Walmart and the bustling commercial corridor.

A new SpringHill Suites by Marriott is also coming to South Creasy Lane. Located near Sam’s Club, the hotel will offer 96 rooms. Construction is expected to begin next November, with an anticipated opening in March 2028. While the spot might seem unconventional, available land in highly developed areas is increasingly limited, and this project takes advantage of what remains open for growth.

New Additions Near Meijer

Further east, near Meijer, a new Hyatt Place will join the established row of hotels along Meijer Drive. This hotel will feature 105 rooms, with groundbreaking set for September and completion projected for March 2028. The area continues to evolve as one of Lafayette’s busiest lodging hubs, serving travelers, visiting professionals, and families alike.

Marriott Expands in West Lafayette

On the west side, Marriott is planning a new Courtyard hotel on Brown Street. This project is part of a broader wave of redevelopment and growth in West Lafayette. Groundbreaking is scheduled for March 2026, with an expected opening in October 2027. This addition will further strengthen the city’s hospitality scene and complement ongoing residential and commercial expansion.

Research Park Welcomes New Lodging

Holiday Inn Express is also on its way to the Purdue Research Park area. While the construction timeline has not been released, the addition continues the trend of increased lodging availability to support the area’s growing research, business, and university travel demands.

A Sign of Economic Growth

Some may question whether more hotels are really needed, but the local market tells the story. Booking a room on a Purdue football weekend can be challenging—and expensive—which makes additional hotels not only practical but necessary. The influx of new hotel construction reflects strong economic momentum across Greater Lafayette, supported by visitors from manufacturing, research, education, and athletics.

This wave of development shows that businesses, investors, and visitors alike see promise in our area’s future. The steady rise in hotel projects is a tangible sign of the confidence and growth driving the Lafayette and West Lafayette communities forward.
